Giving evidence before the Totalisator Commission, the secretary of the Orange Jockey Club favored the machine. He declared that lie knew of instances where bookmakers took targe books and wagers in order to mislead the public. Bookmakers, rightly or wrongly, wore supposed to control the jockeys, but this, had never been satisfactorily proved.
