MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 6. The New Zealand Boxing Council re-elected Sir J. Ward patron, and Mr. W. G. Atack secretary. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £lOl. The Council had a long discussion on a question raised by the Hawke’s Bay and Greymouth Associations- The latter wish the Council’s sanction to an. arranged, match between Mitchell and
Ireland on May 18, for the heavyweight championship. Subsequently the Council- informed the Hawke’s Bay Association that it had matched, Mitchell and. Ireland for April 30. At the Council’s request the Greymouth Association gave way. It was now decided to call on Mitchell for an explanation of liis statement that he had not made arrangements with Greymotjpn, also to submit a full statement >f tlie case by the affiliated bo-dies, with a request that they strictly respect one another’s engagements! Regarding a letter from Hawke’s Bay, charging the secretary with having acted on his own iniative, the chairman said the secretary had acted- on the instructions of the Council in every respect'. The New Zealand championship fixture was allotted to AA 7 ellington.
