ENTERTAINMENTS.
RATHE PICTURES. To lovers of Dumas—and they are legion—the current programme at His Majesty’s Theatre can be recommended, the delightful adventures of the dashing “Three Musketeers” forming the subject of the principal film. The amorous D’Artagnan—brave heart!— and his swashbuckling, -but ideally heroic companions are a- splendid study in Dumas’ speaking type, and as the central figures in a. moving picture they are no less absorbing. Their adventures, too, are treated very liberally and the audience on Saturday obtained a very fair insight into the rollicks and dare-deaths of the selfcontained brotherhood. “The Three Musketeers” is good. Among the other films, which, by the way, comprise a. wholly enjoyable programme, may he mentioned a’ topical one dealing with the recent swimming carnival in Auckland. “Kitty and the Cowboys” provides the Western picture which must always he included, and what is more, provides an interesting story, while “Dancer of Silva,” “Peril of the Plains” and “On Separate Paths” complete the dramatic bill. The Programme for the main part, will be repeated this evening when a number of new pictures will be included. YON AEX HUGE COMBINED SHOWS. Next Monday, May 27, Aon Arx huge combined shows' of magic arict hypnotism will commence a two-nights' season in His .Majesty’s Theatre. Newspapers, speak well of the hypnotic demonstrations- The stage setting is of red velvet, in the form of a cyciorama, which will have a very pretty effect. The professor asks only that a subject concentrate his or her mind on whatever the test mat be and he will do the rest. _ During the entertainment there will >be a Jot or tests m hypnotism that will take a humoroiis turn, which the newspapers say sends the audience home with a_ good feeling and a desire for more. Aon Arx, who provides the “magic” part ox the prouramme, shews a- 11 umber of tricks »aiitl illusions. A short-skirted lady appears and disappears again in the most unexpected places. George Murphy, in his comic juggling act, keeps the house in a simmer of merriment, and oho amazes them by some of his clever exhibitions. The box plan opens at Miller’s on Thursday _ morning,, and day sales are at Miller’s also.
