POSITION OF THE TEAMS Goals
After a somewhat even game Y-M.A.C. defeated G.T.A. by 5 goals to 1. The play was of a very high standard, being up to that displayed at any local representative match. A good deal of discussion took place over some of the decisions.given 'by the referee, and one player had to he ordered off the field.
Y.M.A.C. won the toss, and G.T.A. 'kicked off, hut quickly lost the ball. Wincks secured and sent the leather up the field. A corner kick followed, from which Y.M-A.C. secured, but was unable to score. A passing bout between the G.T.A. forwards followed, hut a stoppage was caused by A. Webster, who landed the ball well up the field. A G.T.A. player was penalised for fouling in the penalty area. Wincks.took the kick and llonwick made a good save, though Wincks following up, landed the leather between the posts. From the kick-off G.T-A. secured the ball and sent it down the field, but faulty shooting spoilt their chance. From the liomc-kick Y.M.A.C. secured, and the ball travelled from one wing to the other, until an obstruction by a Y.M.A.C. half-back stopped the play. The kick was placed well down field, where Shields secured and sent to! Wallace, who passed to Fryer. What looked like a sure goal for the blacks was saved by A. Webster’s timely appearance. G.T.A. again had their opponents in a perilous position, the ball just resting a few inches out from the goal, but the ever-ready Wincks saved the situation. Some good passing rushes were indulged in, .honors being fairly even. A few minutes from the call of half-time A. Webster sent the hall to Green, who transferred to Dodds, from whom it went to J. Hues, who scored a good goal- The whistle then sounded foi half-time. On resuming Y.M.A.C. secured and leaked like scoring, but Remvick made a o-ood save. The ball, however, was not cut of the G.T.A. territory before Wincks secured, and from a nice kick landed the leather. _ , , From the l 'kick-off Y.M.A.C- had their opponents in difficulties. Wincks secured and passed to Green, who headed the ball between the posts. Y.M.A.C. again had their opponents in trouble, but Wylson, who had not been up to scratch, inis-kicked, lesing .a certain goal. G.T.A. once more obtained possession, and the ball travelled up the field ancl was sent to Shields (G-T.A.), who from a good shot placed the ball between the posts, thus notching their only goal. Y M \ C secured, and the bail travelled down the field, but Fenwick a<rain made a good save. Some centre plav occupied the next few minutes, until the Y.M.A.C. forwards secured, ancl the hall was passed to Wincks, who scored off a good shotThe whistle sounded shortly atteiwarcis, leaving Y.M.A-C. victorious.
