The ship Portpatrick, from New York, had a sensational voyage. She experienced a series of gales. A big sea carired the wheel and two seamen, Carson and Braste, overhoard
Both were drowned. The vessel was uncontrolled until another wheel was fixed, and rolled and strained alarmingly. \ The gale stripped the sails and considerably damaged the deck. The cabin was flooded, and a great part of the stores was spoiled. During the height of the storm, the first mate, named Fowles, was found dead in his cabin, from heart failure-
