AUCKLAND CAPPING CELEBRATIONS.
PASSED THE BOUNDS OE GOOD TASTE AND ORjDER.”
[PEE PBESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, June 17
From opinions expressed by members of the Auckland University College Council it would appear that this vear the Auckland students’ capping celebrations passed the bounds of good -taste and order. The subject was introduced by the receipt of the following letter signed by Professor Egerton ((chairman of the Professorial Board): . “I am directed by the Professorial Board to send yon a copy of a resolution passed unanimously on the 10th inst as follows: That in view of the interruptions in the recent capping the Chairman of the Board be instructed to write to the Chancellor asking that the capping ceremony at Auckland should be suspended for at least one year.’ ”
After a lengthy discussion it was resolved to defer consideration of the matter until the next meeting of the Council.
