PATHS PICTURES. A capital sea yarn bv the Selig Co., entitled “The Maid at the Helm,” is the principal attraction in the hew set of pictures to be screened at His -Majesty’s Theatre to-njght. The story, which is competently constructed and very well acted, tolls how a maniac gets control of a vessel while the captain and crew are away in the boats after a whale. The madman is outwitted by a girl, who shoots him and locks him in a cabin. She then sVi-ers the whaler hack to the boats. Toe sea scenes are most realistic, and the whole picture is praiseworthy to a degree. “Captain Jinks’ Dilemma” is a comedy in the Vitagraph best styie. That inimitable comedian, Mr John Bunny, as Captain Jenk, supplies the fun. The gallant captain en- :

gages himself to Widow Brown, but to his horror discovers there are five little Browns. The captain borrows eight children from the neighbors, and actually frightens Mrs Brown out of the engagement. The comedy is ir-

resistioie. ino Euoin players supply an excellent comedy entitled ‘ ‘A Compromise.” Mrs Wallace makes the mistake of hiring pretty girls as helpsMr Wallace is impressionable and bis wife discovers that he is much addicted to kissing the servants, at which she dismisses the whole batch and engages men. She in turn practises flirtation, much to the annoyance of !, er liege lord. Peace is at length resu'>red by the pair "agreeing to instal Jo-red help. “Dakar and the Bay. of *e” presents a charming series of pictures illustrating native industries in f'-e French Soudan, while “Beautiful Vintage Time” takes the audience into the champagne country, and

gives an insight into the magnitude of the grape-growing industry. The Path© Gazette is overflowing with topical events of rare interest, and, as die comic element is well supplied, the new Iserica. should immediately make good.
