BOROUGH ADVERTISING AND PRINTING.
HOW IS IT BEING APPORTIONED? IMPORTANT RETURN TO BE PREPARED. The manner of the apportionmentof printing and advertising required by the Borough Council as between the "Gisborne limes’ ’and ‘‘Poverty Bay Herald’’ was referred to at a meeting of the Borough Council lastevening. Cr. Collins pointed out that there existed on the minute book of the Council a minute in reference t > this matter dated December 1,1909 and signed by Mr W. D. Lysnar. who was then mayor. It stated : “The Gisborne Times Company wrote asking for half the printing and advertising. Cr. Collins moved': that a return he prepared showing the amount paid to each paper for advertising during the last i~l months. An amendment was proposed by Cr. Pettie and seconded by Cr. -Somervell that each get a fair share of the printing and advertising. The motion was lest- and the amendment earned.” Continuing, Cr. Collins said that he was anxious to know whether this minute had b6en strictly carried out. He would ask that a return be prepared by next meeting showing the amount paid for printing and advertising to each of the local papers for j the last 18 months. The Mayor said the return would be prepared.
