A RAILWAYMAN’S APPEAL.

CONSIDERED BY THE BOARD

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON, July 11

The Railway Appeal Board to-night considered the case of .Thomas Henry Stubbs, relieving officer for the Auckland district, who appealed against his dismissal. Appellant was acting-station master at Taupiri on May 8, and the points were left open, with the result that an engine and three waggons were derailed. Dr. McArthur, S.M. (President of the Board) said he_ considered that Stubbs was responsible as officer in charge of the station, hut he was not satisfied that the punishment was commensurate with the offence. The Board considered that the case would be met by reducing the appellant to one grade (from grade 8 to 9). They recognised that he was a capable officer.
