A south-east gale—the worst experienced for some years —was experienced to-night. During the height of the blow a small tower on the Methodist Church was demolished, trees were uprooted and much damage was done to fencing. NAVY LEAGUE AT AUCKLANDAUCKLAND, July Id. A meeting of the local branch of the Navy League was held to-night to instil'fresh life into the cause in Auckland and the surrounding district. The meeting was a great success unci a strong executive was set up. The success of the movement is assured.
