[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT] LONDON, July 14. Sir David Graaf, interviewed at Southampton regarding naval matters, said that South Africa was anxious and willing to take a full share of the responsibilities of the Empire. Captain Faber, M.P., asserted that when Ministers returned from Malta they intended to abandon the Mediterranean, but after a severe struggle the Defence Committee succeeded in reversing the intention. He believed the Canadian offer would be seven million dollars every other year.
