WELLINGTON, July 15. The Department of . Agriculture, Commerce and l Tourists has received the following cablegram from the- • High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, July US. (Note.—Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):

Tbe mutton market is steady, with a very good demand- Canterbury 3Jd to 4|d, North Island 3|d to 4sd, according to weight; ewes, 3Jd. Lamb: There is a. good demand for all lambs. The deliveries are light at the market, on account of the strike, hut the discharge is improving. Quotations show a. weaker tendency. Canterbury, heavy weights sd, light-weights 6*,d (scarce); other than Canterbury, |d and id less than those. The beef market is quiet, but firm. New Zealand forequarters, 3)d. The butter market is quiet, but rather steadier. Stocks of New 'Zealand are pretty well cleared. Choicest New Zealand butter is at 113 s per cwt, Australian IOGs, Siberian 103 s, Danish 1225. The cheese market is declining, on account of heavy home supplies. Business is dull. New Zealand white 665, colored 675. The hemp market is firm, with an improved demand. On spot, New Zealand good to. fair £22 10s, New Zealand fair grade £2l ss; forward shipment, New Zealand good to fair £22 10s per ton. New Zealand fair grade £2l 10s. The stock is 268 tons, the market for manila is active, at an advance. On spot, fair current Manila, £23; forward shipment, £23 10s. The output from Manila for the weetc was 21,000 halesThe cocksfoot market is very quiet, no attention being given. New Zealand prices, 64-s to 70s. Buyers wd 1 not buy until the results of the Continental and American crops are known. The wool market remains firm. LONDON MARKETS. LONDON, July 14. "Wheat is very dull, owing to the fine weather in Europe. American and Australian, cargoes have sold at 4Cs and 41s. There is no demand for cargoes. Holders ask 40s 0d for New South "Wales Mar«h shipment, 40s 3d for April shipment, 41s for South Australian March shipment, 39s ’ 6d for June shipment, 40s 3d for Victorian April shipment, 3Ss Od to 39s for < arcels afloat, and 41s 6d for Australian spot. Flour is dull. Australian is alO it 28s for store. Oats are firm. La Plata June and July shipments 16s 3d. Butter is dull. Danish, i2os to 1225. Siberian 100 sto 104 s. Colon ml is nominal. Choicest Australian, 104 s to 106 s; unsalted. 108 s to L10s; Yew Zealand, 112 s to 114 s; unsalted, 116 s. Cheese is dull- New Zealand colored 68$, white 675. LONDON "WOOL SALES. LONDON, July 14. There was a good attendance, and keen competition at the wool sales. Prices are unchanged. The amount catalogued totals 91,927 bales, of which 87,163 have been sold. Following are the prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named: Highfield, top price 12$d, average price 12.'d; Teviotdale, 14d and 13gd ; Gear, 14kl and 10pi. CHEESE IN LONDON. The market is active, at higher prices. The Canadian supply cannot increase over last year. The butter market is firm, with a hardening tendency. WHEAT AND FLOUR AFLOAT. The total shipments to Europe for the week amounted to 1,210,0U0qr5., including Argentine 184,000, Russian 270,000, Danubian 133,000, Indian 292.000, and Australasian 15,000.
