FATHER OF TWINS AT/EIGHTY
Dr ])■ A. ‘Gorton, -of Brooklyn, a famous authority 'on eugenics, wno is eighty years old, has just become the father of twins, a boy and a girl, with whom ho declares he intends to experiment for the purpose of proving that paternal relations when the father is aged are most beneficial to children. ])r Gorton main red his secretary, who is forty years old, last year, after aii agreement between them, he announces, to give a scientific demonstration of his theories of eugenics, lie expects that the twins, who are quit© healthy, and weighed six and a half pounds each at birth, will give evidence of high mental and physical endowments, and beconie objects of the greatest interest to the medical world. He says that while paternity after sixty years of age is rare, this is only because there is no consistent observation of laws of eugenics. Dr Gorton declares that he knows a case of paternity at the age of a hundred. He announces that his rules
are a knowledge of hygiene, hard work, tho avoidance of a meat diet, moderation in all exercises, and scientific mating. He declares that the determination of sex before birth is possible, and insists that in his sixty years of medical experience lie has proved the soundness of the sex hypothesis of the late Professor Eufort, of Germany. Dr Gorton says that the sex of his two daughters and one son by bis previous wife was predetermined in accordance with the Eufort theory. H> says that lie expected only a son this lime, and the additional daughter was an agreeable surprise. His medical friends throughout the country are overwhelming him with congratulations.
