MATAWH.EEO STOCK SALE. There was a good attendance at the Matawliero stock sale yesterdayThere was a fairly good yarding of store sheep and cattle, but the entry, of fat stock was rather small. Competition, 'however, was fairly brisk. —Fat Cattle.— There was a- small yard in cr of fat cattle, and bullocks made from £5 to £7 2s 6d, con’s £4 to £G. —Fat Sheep.— The entry of fat sheep was not a largo one, but competition was fairly brisk. Ewes made up to 12s Gd and wethers up to 14s. Pj<Y S . There was a good entry of pigs, hut the demand on the whole was not very spirited, and they made from 13s 6d to £1 17s, according to size and quality. —Store Sheep.— The store sheep pens were well filled. though the entry consisted mostly of ewes, which sold fairly well. Good ewes brought from 9s 6cl t-o 12s, and extra up to 15s 4d; medium made from 8s to 8s 6d, and inferior from 6s 3d to 7s 3d- Wethers made from 14s 5d to 14s 6d, and hoggets from 10s 6d to 11s 7d for good and from 7s 5d to 9s 6d for other. The sales were:— Ewes: 139 at 15s 7d. 127 at 15s 4d, 117 at 12s, 105 at 11s 7d, 107 at 11s 6d, 122 at Us. 65 .at 10s 6d.- 222 at 10s, 100 at 9s lOd. 32 at 9s 7d, 108 at 9s 6d, 110 at 8s 6d, 182 at Bs, 101 at 7s 3d, 7 at- 6s 3d. Wethers: 109 at 14s 6d and 97 at 14s sd. Hoggets : 89 at Us 7d, 260 at 11s. 40 at 10s Gd, 33 at 10s 3d, 189 at 9s lid, 105 at 9s 10d, 5 at 9s 6d, 203 at 9s, and 32 at 7s sd. Store Cattle. — There was a good yarding of store cattle, and the "following prices were realised:—s heifers £5 7s 6d, 7 steers and heifers £3 3s, 18 forward bullocks £5 19s 6d, 2 heifers £3 15s, 1 cull cow £l, 1 bullock £1 10s, 6 do. £1 2s 6d, 3-heifers and 2 steers £2 18s 6d, 4 calves £1 14s, 1 heifer £3 2s 6d. 1 billlock £4 9:-;. 1 calf £1 10s. 1 heifer £3 ss, 9 do. £3 16s. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. and Common, Shelton and Co. sold: 41 cows £3 12s, 1 dairy cow £7 10s, 1 do- £7 2s 6d. lq'ndon wool sales. GERMAN STATISTICS FOR THE YEAR. (Received Julv 18, 11.45 p.m.) LONDON, July 18. German statistics show that the world’s copper production for the last year was 894,400 tons, compared with *877,660 tons for the previous year. Lead was 1,117,800 tons, as compared with 1,132,900 tons ; tin 118,200 tons, as compared with 115,700 tons ; spelter 895,400 tons, as compared with 816,600 tons.
