NEW CEMETERY SITE.
CONFERENCE BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND BOROUGH COUNCILS.
PROPOSAL TO ACQUIRE UP TO
25 ACRES
A conference* between representatives of the Cook County Council and the Borough Council concerning the new cemeterv site was held at the Cook County'Council Chambers yesterday. There were present: The Mayor, Or Collins and Cr. Webb representing the Borough Council, and Ors H. Ivenway, T. Holden and G. Witters. The Mayor stated that the position Avas that the Borough had decided definitelA' to go in for a new cemetery and thev decided to borrow money for the * purpose. Until that money wa« authorised, and' also raised, of course, he did not take active steps in the matter. The Council had now got the money and no time should be lost in proceeding Avith the project. As they were aware, the matter Avas before 'both Councils and members of ■both bodies visited several sites. One was chosen and since then nothing had arisen to alter their opinion- This site Avas just opposite the Domain and belonged to Captain Tucker. If the members Avere agreeable the best thing, was to decide on the area. After discussion it was agreed to empower the Mayor to interview Capt Tucker and ascertain the price for from 20 to 25 acres of land and l-c----•port. *•
