The salvage steamer V airoa, which was fitted out for the purpose of proceeding to the Auckland Islands to recover the treasure lost- in the General Grant, is now the property of Messrs Stevenson and Cook, of Port Chalmers, avlio have effected a settlement Avitli the salvage syndicate, satisfied the claim of the mortgagee, and liquidated all the debts ou tlie vessel. The Wairoa is still at Port- Chalmers, but it is understood that a northern firm is negotiating for the purchase of lier.
