NO ALLIANCE.
AN IMPORTANT ENTENTE, HOWEVER, ARRIVED AT.
r UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT] LONDON, July 19.
Reuter's Tokio correspondent report’s that the rumor of Russia’s early alliance with Japan is incorrect, and that there have been no negotiations with such a purpose, rand none are projected. Most important notes, however, have passed, supplementing the agreements of 1907 and 1910, with a view to defining Russia’s sphere of interest- in outer Mongolia, meaning that portion of Manchuria so-called. Tire negotiations have led to the clearest understanding, and lias created an entente of the greatest importance to the preservation of peace in the Far East, and second only in importance to the Anglo-Japanese. alliance.
JAPAN AND RUSSIA
JOINT DEFENCE AGAINST ATTACK.
(Received -July 21, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 21
The “Times” St. Petersburg correspondent says that the Russo-Ja-panese agreement, besides delimiting the spheres of interest in Mongolia and Manchuria, provides for joint defence in case either power is attacked in those spheres.
