A London cable announces the death of the anther, Air. Andrew Lai 'gA Gore telegram says that Air I- AlcKenzie, aged 3f> years, employed by the Postal Department for nearly 90 years, died on Sunday morning from infiamation of the lungs. He served i-i the Tiiiiaru and Dunedin post office-: in addition to that at Gore, where h > was highly esteemed. The Her. (-.opal K a member of the A u-evoy of India’s Legislative Council, who lias been actively identified with the National Progress movement, was accorded a reception in London. He goes to Soul!i Africa to discuss affairs with the members of the Government.
• Hon- J. P. Sinclair has been gazetted to replace Sir Joseph Ward, or Xew Zealand, and Sir Richard-bom-mon to replace., Sir D. P- Graaf, of South Africa, on the Imperial trade Commission (says a London cable).
