WELLINGTON PROVINCIAL CROSS-COUNTRY CMAMPIONSHIPS. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON N., July 24. The Wellington provincial five miles cross-country championship was decided here to-day, starting and ending oil the show grounds. The going was very heavy, as the result of the heavy rain which fell during the day. The’competitors had to go through water waist high in places, and seme fell in up to their necks. Notwithstanding all tlie times were excellent. The winner turned up in Jack Bradbury, ex-New Zealand champion, entered from Mnsterton, in 32nrin ISsee. F. Byrne (Brooklyn) was next, in 32min 42soe. IV- Press (Wellington) was third, m 33min 4scc. L. Cook (Masterton) F. J. Burrell (Brooklyn). IV. Jh Bennett (Wellington), A. Ollivcr (Brooklyn), and F. Lowe (Keilding) finished in that order. Fiftv-three started and 31 finished.
