BATHE PICTURES
Excellent entertainment will bo found in the new .programme which will be introduced at His Majesty’s Theatre to-night. Qf the many meritorious dramatic subjects, “The Root of Evil,” a well-acted and cleverlyconstructed play by the popular Biograph Company takes pride of place. The plot deals with the daughter of a wealthy man, who has clandestinely married lier father’s The secret is discovered by the rich man’s confidential adviser, an unscrupulous, designing villain, who hoped to marry the heiress, simply to obtain her father’s wealth. The father disowns the daughter and makes a new will in the adviser’s favor. The husband of the young girl dies, and she is left to fight the world with her little daughterIn the end Nemesis overtakes the arch villain, and he is poisoned through taking a draught lie had prepared for his employer. “The Bully of Bingo Gulch” is a long way ahead of the average Western drama. The story tells of tho taming of Wild Jim, who is terrorising the country. A pretty romance runs through the film, which contains some hard riding, and has the saving grace of humor. The Vitagraph players supply “A Doubly-De-sired Orphan,” a comedy, in their very best style. Mrs Johnson, a widow, and Mr Brown, a widower, childless and alone, long for the companionslrip of a family. By a coincidence they both decide to adopt an orphan, but trouble arises over both selecting tho fiaine child. A deadlock arises, which is only removed by tho pair deciding to get married. The comedy is delightfully presented. “A Trip from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek” reveals all the wonders of the Rockies, and is one of the finest scenic films turned out for many a long day. Among the many fine items contained in the Bathe Gazette are Mr Bonar Law’s visit to Belfast, aeroplaning atHendor, yachting on the Thames, a great French- cavalry ride, and the recent big fire at Ipswich. The new series can be relied upon to prove highly popular, and those who patronise this programme will find little to complain of and much to admire. ROLLER SKATINGPatrons of the Garrison Hall rink are being well catered for, and there will he three sessions to-day. At the evening session the Rink Band will he in attendance. Children will not be allowed on the floor.
