FOOTBALL.

THE RUGBY GAME. HAITI CITY FOOTBALL CLUB. A mooting of the Kaiti City football club was held at the Royal Hotel last evening. Air. J. J. Martin presided over a good attendance of members. Mr Martin intimated that it was his intention to entertain the members in honor of the occasion of their winning both senior and junior competitions. A committee, consisting of Messrs J. J. Martin. H. Tocker, P. Stubbs, J. O’Neill, R. Douglas and the secretary, Mr J. A. Eaton was appointed- to arrange a. date and make all the necessary arrangements. . A letter was received from the Pirates’ Club, Napier, stating that it was their intention to send a junior team to Gisborne to play the KaitiCitv junior team at a date to be arranged later. —The letter was received.

[PER PEESS ASSOCIATION.] INVERCARGILL, July 31. The match North Island v Southland resulted in a. win for the former by 6 points to 3.
