.V QUESTION ANSWERED IN
THE HOUSE
Bv Telegraph—Special Correspondent. "WELLINGTON, Aug. 14.
Mr MacDonald asked the Minister for Mines in the House to-day whether it Avas the intention of the Government to continue the geological survey of the Gisborne East Coast districts'.
He stated that it tvas a matter of very great importance that the geological survey of the Waikohu, Patutahi, Waimuta, "Whan, earn, and Turanganui Survey Districts should be completed. The survey would be of great benefit/not only in connection with the oil industry, but in the locating of stone suitable for road metal. Mr Fraser replied that it is not intended at present to continue the geological survey of the Gisborne-East Coast district. A special survey of the Wliatatutu subdivision of their district was taken somewhat out of the regular order in order to afford the best possible advice as to Avhere oil bores could be put down and the advice then given is being acted on. It is doubtless of importance that the survey should bo continued sooner or later, but there are no good reasons to necessitate any special urgency.
