President Taft has vetoed the Steel Bill on the ground that the measure did not afford protection to American industries, and was merely intended for revenue purposes only. ARMY APPROPRIATION BILL

The Senate has passed the Army Appriation Bill replacing the Bill .vetoed bv President Taft.

As the new Bill omits provision for dismissing General Wood as Chief of Staff President Taft will veto it. In consequence of the veto on tlie previous Bill the army services are., left without funds.

The Senate has passed the Cotton Bill, a Democratic measure with an amendment repealing Canadian reciprocity except as regards pulp and paper.
