His principal wins were in two-mile races, his tune being 4.53. Coming from such a consistent trotting family, he should leave stock for either harness or saddle. He has proved himself to be a splendid hack and harness horse. ~ Alruont, the sire of Mousetrap, was sold at the late Henry Mace’s dispersal sale to Messrs Barber and Tye, of Melbourne, for 640 guineas. Almont holds the threemile world’s record of 6min 50sec, and has taken many prizes in the show nnc, including champion at the Sydney Show. One of his sons recently brought tuu guineas in Melbourne. His performances include: First Thompson Handicap (Wellington), first J*ckey Club Handicap (Canterbury), and other valuable events.
