EXTRA MAGISTRATE WANTED. COURT SITTINGS AT TE KARAKA PROPOSED. By Telegraph—Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, Aug. 29. A depuration consisting of Sir Jas. Carroll, Air W. D. S. AlacDonald and Captain Tucker interviewed the Alinister for Justice to-day and asked for the appointment of an additional Magistrate at Gisborne. They pointed out that the Alagisterial work at Gisborne had increased to such an extent, and there was such an area to be covered that tho present Alagistrate could not cope with the work. , ,

Sir Jas. Carroll suggested that the local Judge or the Xalive Land Court might be empowered to take Magisterial work. This, lie tuolight, would relieve the pressure. The Minister said ho thought the suggestion a really rood one. He had had representations on the subject of an extra Magistrate from the Gisborne Law Society, and he would look into the matter and see i: Sir Jas. Carroll's suggestion could be given effect to. _ The deputation asked also mat Magistrate Court sittings should be held at Te Karaka.* The Minister said ho thought tins matter required cartial consideration and he could hold cut some hope that the request would be granted in the near future.
