“Fried chicken three times a day if you want it,” countered the Meade fa finer. ‘ Wo'lli serve lunch in the field at 1.30 p.m. and knock off at 3 p.m. for cold drinks and lunch,” was the immediate inducement by Matthews. The Meade County man scratched his head. Then has face lighted up and lie said: ‘Boys, live meals a day, free smoking and cold pop, Knock off working at 0 o'clock and no milking, no chores.’’
“Boys, the best-looking girls live l in Pawnee -County,’ 1 Matthews came back. “They’re the right sort or girls, too. and want good husbands. I do ill’ know but what good-looking fellows like you will make a hit with those girls. I’ve got two motor cars, and the neighbors have some. If you come with me it's free use of those ears every night as long as the harvest lasts." “Say, boys, what’s the fare to Earned ?“ spoke up one of the youths. “That’s all right; come along,’ - replied the Pawnee County man, and bought the tickets for the “bunch.’’
