NOTES.
The Union Co’s steamer Monowai arrived from the South yesterday and left for Auckland about noon. The northern steamer yesterday was the Huddart Parker Co’s Wimmera, which arrived from Auckland at 10.20 a.m., and left for the south at 3 p.m., the “Sinbad the Sailor” Pantomime Company travelling by her. The Union Co’s steamer Squall arrived yesterday from Auckland and Tologa. .Bay. llor Gisborne cargo was as follows: 1200 bags cement, 210 bags sugar, 235 bags slag, 70 bags Hour, 300 bags coal, 100 shooks, 00 cases candles, 40 cases spirits. 100 drums oil, 5750 bricks, and a large quantity of sundries; also transhipments ex Mimiro and Waimana.
The Union Co’s steamer Wanaka is due from the south on Saturday. 'The Hauoiri is timed to leave Auckland to-day for Gisborne via Coast ports. The half-monthly exports from Gisborne for the first half of September were:—Skins, 10.008, value £1239; tallow, 70 tons. £1900; wool, 125,023ib5, £4103.
Mr Hundred, late third officer of the Moana, left that vessel at Sydney on sick leave, and his place was filled by Mr J. K.Jtae, late of the Corinna. The proposed alterations to the Olympic (sister ship to the Titanic) will cost £250|000.
