THE BY-ELECTION.
(to THE EDITOR.)
Sir, —A good deal of capital is made out of the statement that Air A. H. Anderson sought the secretaryship of the Waterside Workers’ Union. In justice to Air. Anderson, it should be stated that lie was approached by a large number of waterside workers requesting him to contest the secretaryship, as there appeared to be considerable dissatisfaction with tlie way in which the affairs of tho Union were conducted. Air Anderson, after considerable pressure, consented. He did not canvass a single vote and didn’t bring the slightest pressure_ on the matter. It was only, as I said before, at the request of a largo number of Unionists, that he came forward. —I ami etc., JOSEPH CROSS.
