CONCLUDING DAY

[PEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.] LEVIN, Sept. 24. The Otaki Maori Racing Club’s spring meeting was concluded to-day. The weather was overcast, but only one shower fell. The going was heavy.

The totalisator turnover was £Blßo' for the day, making £19,432 for the meeting, an increase of £3OOO over the spring meeting in 1911. Results: Second Hack Hurdles of 90 sovs, 1 -A- miles.—H. McAlanaway’s Strathnioira 10.11 (Coleman) 1, Don Carlos 9.7 2, Himitangi 9.4 -3. Also ran: FI ingot- 10.4, Sleacombe 10.4, Strategist- 9.8, Whimper 9.8, Aema. 9.3, Papakiore 9.0. Sleacombe and Strategist fell.' The winner. went to the front a quarter of a mile from home and ran home comfortably by two lengths. Himitangi. and Aema finished close to the second horse. Time 3.3 2-5.

Otaki Hack Handicap of 90 sovs, seven furlongs.—F. J. Atfiolds’s Bonnie Boy 8.11 (F. Meagher) 1, St Serf 7.10 2, Serenity 7.5 3. Also ran : Katina 8.8, Big Blast 7.10, Charge G.lO, Grandee 6.10. Bonnie Boy won by half a length, with Serenity well beaten. Time 1.37 1-5. Trial Plate of 70 sovs, five furlongs. —L. Goodger’s Lady Mildred 7.11 (L. Nedcier) 1, Parnparaumu r 2, A nnkee Doodle 3. Also ran : Runaway Curl 8.13, Stockade 8.13, Panthea S.S, Peggy 8.5, Erekker 8.1, Sir Daniel 8.1. J Runnaway Girl made her running too soon and was done with at the business end, where the placed horses raced out of the ruck and finished all throe within a length. Time 1.8.

President’s Handicap of 150 sovs, one mile.—H. Whitnev’s Odessa 7.10 (R. Berry) 1, Mescal 7.1 2. Muleteer 0.7 3, Also ran: Mulga Bill S. Byron 8.4, Routine 7.8, Cork 7.6, Kilosteri 7.2, Brown Trout 7.0, Lord Renown 7.0, Montiform 7.0. Lord Renown, Muleteer and Cork led along tho back and into the straight, where Mescal, Odessa and Brown Troutmoved up. In a good finish Odessa was squeezed home hv a long neck from Mescal, with Muleteer two lengths behind, and Mulga Bill, Cork and Brown Trout being-next in orc.er. Time 1.51. Electric Handicap of SO sovs, five furlongs.-—H. W. Clay’s War Queen 7.10 (R. Berry) 1, Peroneal 8.6 2, Eocene 8.3 3. Also ran: Lady Louisa 8.11, King’s Favorite 8.4. Lady \ olley 7.11, Vladinoy 7.2, Charge 6.10. King’s Favorite set the pace hut could not last the distance and left A\ ar Queen in command a furlong from home. Lady f.ouisa was prominent a while but died out in the last fifty yards. Blend Si. 4, Cornelian 8.5, Kiugswell 8,2, Kina got a flying start but was overhauled and finally beaten by Coolbegoan who won hv a length. Master Laddo was two lengths behind Kina. Time 1.51 3-5.

WANGANUI TRAINING NOTES. [PEE PEESS ASSOCIATION J WANGANUI, Sept. 24. This was the first morning's work of anv importance done on the training tracks for the Wanganui meeting opening on Thursday. The tracks are very dead. Winning Way and Brown Owl went six furlongs, the latter ahead, in 1.20. Aloha finished m front of Stepney, Denise, and Ormo, at the end of five furlongs. Hawick and St. Felix covered a mile in 1.52 Multiply and Our King did six furlongs, the latter easily, in 1.214. Distinction and Vocation, the latter being very fit, did steady work. Seaman beat Otahuhu over seven furlongs in 1.30. Ngataranui gave Darby Paul three lengths’ start and an easy boating over five furlongs in 1.0. Sandstream did long, steady work. Mallard, Oakum, Lockwood, Pcirene, Styx, and a number of others went at hall pace. Haskyne, Bollin, and Altc-ar arrived last night, also Prosser’s team.
