Messrs Richardson niul C'oy.’s Ripple arrived from the South yesterday morning, and after discharging a quantity of general cargo sailed for Napier in the afternoon. Not until the end of next week is the s.s. Squall due at Gisborne. Latest reference to to-day’s passenger steamer from the South —the \\ immera —will be found on page 7. The Mokoia leaves Auckland to-day for the South and is due here to-mor-row afternoon. The Union Steamship Company’s big cargo carrier Aparima has arrived in Dunedin from Calcutta via Singapore, Samarang, and New Zealand ports. She has been absent from New Zealand for about six months, during which- time she has steamed over 30,000 miles. She is at present at the Port in dock and will leave about the end of the week for New castle to load for Java, afterwards taking the November loading for New Zealand' at Calcutta.
