Charles Hoffman, who occupies a prominent position in the town, has been taken to court to answer charges by his wife of having maltreated his five-year-old son Mrs. Hoffman swore that her husband had beaten tho child with a length of .garden hose. He was stripped in court, and great red weals were shown on his hack. The count decreed that the father should be deprived for 60 days of the right to chastise his son cr the other children, and Mrs., Hoffman was temporarily installed as the head of the family.
