The following are the readings of the barometer in our office, taken at 2 a.m. each day:-

Present indications are for strong westerly winds with a southerly tendency for a 'short time, hut a temporary rise in barometeric pressure will probably precede a. further gale in tlie south, when the winds are likely to back again and freshen considerably. Cool and changeable weather is probable . generally, showery and squally in parts, principally on the West Coast and in southernmost districts.
