POVERTY BAY CLUB

A committee meeting of the Poverty Pav Rugbv Union was held m tlie clubhouse 'last evening, there being present W. .Hall (in the chan), A. Kirk J. Wilson. G. Douglas, 0. Hansen and A. Paul. It was decided than entries for the first trial fours race should he elosed on Saturday even- > inn- and all members—the new ones more so—are requested to place their names on the list posted in the Club s shed if willing to participate. As the Club’s gear is now m first rate order the crews when picked mil be able to start training right away, and some good racing may be expected as the 'first heat will not be rowed till about November 6. The lolloping new members were enrolled: A. Al? Fielder and W. R- Seymour.

GISBORNE CLUB. (Tbe usual weekly committee meeting of the Gisborne Rowing Club- was held in the boathouse last evening. There were present: Messrs Coleman (in the chair). Pycroft, Quigley, Hanson. O'Brien and Hutton. It was decided to communicate with the secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association that the Club protested against the proposed alteration in the definition of an amateur oarsman to exclude professionals in other branches of sport. A number or accounts were passed for payment. It was decided to strictly enforce all the rules relating to the proper care of the plant. The first trial fours to be lowed will be for Robertson s trophies in the “A” grade and for Nieholls and Griffiths’ trophies in the • ; B” grade, to be rowed for .on or November. Entries for both grades to close to-day.
