MYSTERY BABY IN PARIS.
CARRIED FROM ENGLAND, AFTER MEETING- IN HYDE PARK, AND ABANDONED.
Pretty, and bearing signs of belonging to rich English parents, a baby who had come from London was causing perplexity to the police of Paris when the last mail left. A young woman, who says she is Mine. Celestiiio Grabowska, went to the polieo with the baby and told a romantic tale. She said that on Sunday she entered into -conversation in Hyde Park, London, with a man, who asked her to accompany him to Paris and look after a, baby belonging to wealthy English parents, who toad requested him to take it to France. She accepted this offer, and on Monday morning reached Paris with the stranger and the baby . Under the pretext of going to purchase a cigar the stranger left her in the Square St. Jacques. The child is only a few months old. “We drove to the Square St. Jacques Here the man told me to wait for him for a. few minutes while he paid a visit- in the neighborhood. “An hour passed; then two, then three. Seeing that he did not return, I went to the house of a Polish friend, who advised me to take the child to a house kept by the Little Sisters of the Poor.-
“The nuns, however, after questioning me, refused to accept tlie child and advised me to take it to the nearest police station.” The child is now in the Paris Public Charity Department.
