AEROPLANE REVIEW.
WONDERFUL FRENCH DEMONSTRATION. “FLIGHT OF GIGANTIC BIRDS.” [INDEPENDENT PRESS CABLE] LONDON, Oct. 4. A review has been commenced at Versailles, near Paris, of tho first military aerial fleet, seventy-two biplanes and monoplanes taking part. A remarkable feature of the review was the peculiar faith which many, of the aviators placed in mascots which they tied on to their machines. The most popular mascots were stuffed gulls and teddy bears. When the engines were stated almost simultaneously by the pilots the roar could he hoard for a distance of many miles. The sight of the machines rising into the air was one of the most extraordinary which has ever met the eyes of human beings. To the spectators on the ground the aeroplanes seemed to fill the sky like a flight of gigantic birds.
