STORMS IN PORTUGAL.
MANY PEOPLE KILLED. [INDEPENDENT PRESS CABLE] LONDON, Oct. 4. Violent storms have swept over Portugal, and great damage has been done to shipping and to agriculture. The country is inundated and many people have been drowned. Trains have had to stop running, and the loss of stock is reported to be disastrous.
