LAND SLIPS ON THE MAIN TRUNK LINE. COMMUNICATION - CUT OFF. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM] TAIHAPE, Oct. 11. Severe slips on the railway line between Ohakune and Horopito last night entirely blocked traffic, possibly for two or tnree days. The express was held up at Taumarunui. The area affected is about two miles. All the available men have been despatched to the locality. Every effort will be made to clear the line as soon as possible. EIGHT DIFFERENT FALLS. AUCKLAND, Oct.' 11. There were heavy landslips on the Main Trunk line between Horopito and Ohakune late last night. Eight falls occurred iat different points within a mile of each -other. It is estimated that 3000 tons of earth were displaced. Neither -the north nor south-bound trains got through. The latter was held up at Taumarunui. Heavy rain last night so loosened the soil that there were fresh falls as soon as a clearance was made. ' It is unlikely communication will -be established to-day, as it is almost impossible to tranship tho passengers and luggage over so many slips.
