“THE GEISHA.”
EXCELLENT PROGRESS BEING MADE. A strong feature of the coming production is the good work which is being done by the minor characters and the chorus. Mr. F. Teat as Lieut. Cuddy sings “Jack’s the Boy” in fine style, while Mr J. iTods as Lieut. Cunningham has a very pleasing song and dance with the five principal geishas "Jappy Jap Jappy.” Mr G. T. Wilson as Captain Katana acquits himself excellently in the tenor solo “Pearl of the Radiant Eastern Sea,” with a beautiful chorus accompaniment. The principal Geishas, Mesdames Wilson, Bain and Dods, and Misses Law and 1.. Nicholas, have some attractive songs and dances, and the concerted number, “If you will Come to Tea,” with the principal Geisha and officers is bound to be well received. The chorus work is also very strong from the opening one to the finale. “Happy Japan,” the "Chorus of Lamentation,” ‘‘Day Born of Love,” and the finales to the first and second acts are very fine music and well taken. Mr Turner as Takemine shines in the auction sale, and is heard to great advantage in the recitative which introduces it. A. quaint concerted number is that between the English ladies (Miss MoCredic, Mrs Biiscke, and Mesdames Bull, O’Rourke, and Penney) with the English officers (Messrs Jackson. Dods. Teat, Langridge and Sheet), entitled “We’re Going to Call on the Marquis.” Several topical verses are being introduced into the j different numbers, and some of our local bodies and celebrities are sure of a free J advertisement. The box plan is now open j at Miller’s. I
