TWELVE-MILE RACE
A 12-mile road race round the Ala,kauri course was run yesterday, and ivome excellent riding was put up. A. Matthews, who did the journey in .3-5.51, and secured fastest time, succeeded in breaking the previous re-
cord held, by A. Wilkinson by 37 seconds. The winner turned up in N. Bishop (SOOsocsj, witlr F. Davis (300 ,/ecs) second, and D. Bean (130 secs) third
The finish saw an excellent spurt between the first and second men. When at East’s corner the two were even, ■lmit Bishop (who is a. lad of about 15 years) gradually drew ahead and won by a. few yard?.
