PIGS
There was a fairly good entry of I*igs, the quality of which was especi-
ally good. Baconers were well represented, and the pigs in this class were very fine and competition was very keen. The winning pen was one of the best that has been seen in the district. Yorkshires were not well represented, but what were exhibited ■were very good indeed. The _ Yorkshire sow would take a prize in any show in the Dominion. The Devons were of 'excellent quality. In the class for the best pig calculated to produce the best class of bacon pigs, the judge, Mr. Thehvall, awarded the prize to Mr. Evans’ Devon pig, because lie considered that for bacon purposes and general utility this breed was superior to the Berkshire, the other competitor.
