CRUELTY TO A BULLOCK
SOME TERRIBLE ALLEGATIONS

At Milton to-day before Mr Bartholomew, S.M., AVm. Borthwick was charged with cruelty to a bullock. The evidence for the prosecution was to the effect that the bullock was exhausted and lay down by the roadside, while being driven from Akatore to Alilton, and that defendant broke its horns and broke its tail off and also that lie dragged it te some tussocks and set fire to it while it was alive.
The Magistrate said the evidence was noti sufficient to prove that the burning took place before tho animal was dead, but some injuries had been inflicted.
Defendant was fined £5 with costs £2 17s.
