For this'purpose the elder iigy, Rene, the instigator of the scheme,' stole £BO from his employer, and with «his brother took a train for Chartres, where each of them bought a pistol, a quantity of cartridges, several knives, and articles for use in travel. AYitli these arms and equipments, the two boys walked to Nogent-le-Rotrou to call on a friend. They were -arrested and sent back.
