CREAT BATTLE COMING.
TURKISH FORCES INFERIOR.
NO ENTHUSIASM DISPLAYED
(Received October 27, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 27
The “Times” correspondent reports that Bulgaria’s endeavor to cut off Abdullah’s rotreat on Constantinople was hampered by inefficient cavalry. Interest now centres in Abdullah rather than in' Nazim Pasha, who has assumed control. There are indications of a coming groat battle, but the Turks] organisation is inferior. Their artillery does not compare with that of the Allies, and they are deficient in transport, equipment and feeding arrangements, while there is also a deficiency in horses.
The Redif regiments, in addition, are badly under-officered. It is rumored* that there are grave differences between Nazim Pasha and Abdullah.
The “Daily Telegraph’s” correspondent refers to the lack of Turkish enthusiasm owing to misrule and distrustfulness between the Old and Young Turks. The Asiatic reservists who, in recent months were ordered to Albania, Tripoli, and other parts, have lost heart.
The Howjas priests will work up some enthusiasm at Stamboul, hut even at Stamboul the Turks had to forcibly enrol many,, some of the wealthier people paying the exemptio : fee.
Moslems in the chief centres of India, including Delhi and Bombay, have subscribed £15,000 to the Bed Orescent Fund- to assist the Turks.
