KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATIONS
COXTEREXCE AT DVXEDIX
[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM] DUNEDIN, Oct. 29
At the conference of Kindergarten Associations to-day a letter was received from Hon. J. Allen, who expressed the opinion that the proposal to come before the conference to the e(l • feet that the age of children attending public schools be raised to sin years could not he carried out in its entirety. It would mean in country, districts, where there were no kindergartens, that children would oe debarred from attending school till they were six. The alterations proposed in training children in physical orili and health exercises in public schorls would be an advantage even at five, years. After discussion it was decided to expunge the proposal referred to from the Order Paper. A motion was carried to the. effect that it was desirable to take immediate steps to Federate within (ertain limits the four Associations in the Dominion.
