A PLEA ON BEHALF OF KAITI.
(to the editor.) Sir,—l don’t know how anybody could seriously put forward' a proposal that the Kaiti bridge should be abolished. The bridge has now been up many years, and the town has shaped itself accordingly. To my way of thinking it is all tommy-rot to talk about shifting the bridge now. I hope that Kaiti residents will be up and doing, and don’t let it be done. If thev don’t nut in a big protest they may find that they have missed the bus'. It is a fine proposal! Whether it was intended or not, its adoption would sound the death-knell of the Outer Harbor scheme. I only wish Mr. Lysnar was here now; he would not sit tight, lam convinced. . Another thing it would do for Kaiti is to cut it off from the town and make it a sort of appendage (Dr. Collins will correct" me if that is not the right word) of Whataupoko, and our progress would be set back for years and years. Hoping that my fellow-resi-dents of Kaiti will unite in. a monster protest,—Yours, etc., “AGIN THE PROPOSAL.”
