Captain Pope, for many years assistant harfc-or-master at Wanganui harbor, has been missing since Wednesday night. A SENSATIONAL BOLT. A rather sensational holt occurred in Bright Street yesterday morning. A cart belonging to Messrs Fisken and Ludwig, butchers, was turning the Palmerston Road corner when the horse liecnme fractious, and rearing •and plunging badly, tipped the driver (Mr Fred James) from his seat. The horse, a voting and spirited one, then set off at a warm gallop and the cart collided with a vehicle outside Mr J. B. Leydon’s primeises, the top section coming off and the splash-boards being smashed. The horse was stopped at this, but not before one of its hind legs was rather severely cut about and injured.
