[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.] WELLINGTON, Nov. 19. diaries Symes, a middle-aged mail residing in Petone, was taken to the hospital on Sunday night, suffering from a buffet wound from a pea rifle. He and his son (aged Id years) were out shooting on Sunday afternoon, when the latter accidentally shot him in the head. Symes had fired at a rabbit and missed, and in dodging so as to give his son an opportunity to shoot ho received the contents of his son s pea-rifle in the back of the head. Yesterday morning the injured man was progressing well, and a slight operation was performed at mid-day. ITis condition, however, was reported to be dangerous last evening, and the bullet has not been extracted.
