PERSONAL NOTES.
Mr. A. R. Gatland is at present in Wellington. Mr E. P. Joyce, of Gisb is at present on a holiday at Rotorua. CV. Brown left for Auckland on Saturday. Mr H. deLautour went to Tokomani Bay by Saturday's steamer. Dr. Coker returned to Gisborne by Saturday's steamer. Captain Probert, of the dredger Maui. left, by .Saturday’s steamer to meet his wife, who has been absent in Australia, on account of ill-health. Mr A. Dewing has gone to Auckland. whore lie will consult a specialist regarding his eyes, which have given him tome trouble of late. Mr. W. Winks, who has. during his short stay in Gisborne, associated himself in sporting matters, left for Auckland on Saturday, on transfer to the Queen City. Rev. W. Grant, after attending the meeting of the Presbyterian General Assembly, returned on Saturday. Rev. Mr Walker was a passenger by the same steamer.
| Mr. T E. Toneyoiiffo. who has been ! for n trip to England, returned by the Mokoia yesterday. Mr H. E. Dodd has been appointed seeretarv of the Tolago Bav Jockev Club. ' ' It- was inadvertently stated in Saturday morning’s issue that Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Barker were leaving shortly on an extended visit to England. This should have referred to Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Barker, who intend leaving Gisborne before long for a lengthy stay in London. V iring last evening the Auckland P A. agent said: “Lord and Lady Islington arrived on Saturday morning from Wellington. In the afternoon the Governor opened the new King George Coronation Hall at Mt. Albert. The Premier called on the Governor off Saturday morning, subsequently receiving a deputation from viticulturists. In the afternoon Mr Massey attended a garden party given in honor of the Reform Party at the residence of Mrs Brigham, Parnell. 'l'lio funeral of Father Venning, who was killed through <a motor cycle acci-dent-oil Thursday night, took' place at V ellington yesterday afternoon and was attended by a very large crowd of people, while representatives of the various societies witli which the deceased was connected were present. Father Venning was accorded military honors, having been chaplain to the sth (Wellington) Regiment.—P.A.
