During a cinematograph performance in a crowded Bilboa circus, a foolish joker cried out fire. A panic ensued, and in the rush 20 children were trampled to death. Several women, a few aged men and many others were injured. There were heartrending scenes as the parents recognised the victims.

Fifty children were killed and only one woman, though a large number of women were injured.
The operator saw the film burst into flame and cried “Fire.'”
He succeeded in extinguishing the flames. The owners and officials of the circus have been arrested.
