GOVERNMENT METEOROLOGIST'S REPORT. Present indications are for cloudy and unsettled weather with rain in many parts of tho country, especially about Cook Straits. Strong northerly winds veering* by west to southerly northwards of New Plymouth and Napier and variable winds with southerlies predominating elsewhere are probable, the barometer will probably fall slightly in tho north, but is due to rise everywhere soon, and cooler and finer weather will follow.
